∙ 16y agoTo get to the hard to reach bolts, you will need an extension, preferably with a wobble end. A universal joint on the wobble end should give you the ability to remove the bolts.

∙ 16y agoReplacing a thermostat on a 1989 Audi 100 should take an estimated 15 minutes. First you will need to disconnect the radiator hose by taking off the two clamps. Then you will remove the two bolts holding the housing in place. After the bolts are removed, the old thermostat can be taken out and replaced with a new one.
Drain coolant. Remove upper radiator hose. unbolt 3 bolts on thermostat housing. take out old one. reverse to install.
the thermostat is located on the outlet on top of the motor where the radiator hose is connected. remove the top radiator hose from the housing and there is two bolts holding the housing on the head of the motor, remove the bolts and you will find the thermostat. to replace just reverse the order in which it was taken off. hope this helps. john.
the thermostat is right on to of the engine just follow the top radiator hose back to the engine there are two bolts to remove. take the old thermostat off clean the surface area of the thermostat housing. apply silicone and gasket. then put in new thermostat and bolt back down(just dont over tighten the bolts the housings are made from aluminum and will crack)
To Replace the thermostat if you follow the water pump toward the back of the engine. The thermostat housing is located right before all of the coolant hoses go into the water pump it is held onto the water pump with 3 bolts with 10mm bolts. the best way is to remove the three bolts and take out the old thermostat and scrape away the old gasket material. then take gasket and new thermostat and put rtv silicone around the top of the thermostat ( I recommend using the 1 minute silicone) then slip the thermostat into thermostat housing. Next take gasket and coat with silicone on both sides of gasket. then slip it in and finger tighten the three bolts. let set for 1 minute or 12 to 24 hours if 1 minute silicone is not used then torque down to appropriate specs don't overtighten
The thermostat is located at the back of the engine near where the radiator hoses attach. There is a housing held in by two bolts. It may be necessary to remove the air cleaner housing to access it. The new thermostat from Honda comes with the gasket and can only be installed one way (with the pin up).
the thermostat is in the front of the block where the bottom rad hose connects.
# Disconnect neagative battery cable # Remove the air cleaner, tagging all hoses as they are removed # Drain cooling system until level is below the thermostat # Disconnect the upper radiator hoses from the thermostat housing # Remove the thermostat housing bolts and separate the housing from the engine. On some models the alternator mounting bracket will have to be disconnected first # Lift housing off and remove the thermostat
Follow the top radiator hose to the engine block loosen the clamp that holds this hose you will then see 2 bolts on what is the thermostat housing the thermostat is in here. remove the 2 bolts pull it off the block and inside is the thermostat remove it and install a new one put things back in reverse way.
You remove the old one and put a new one
do this only after you have not driven the car for 3-4 hours to let the coolant drain and cool..look for the upper radiator hose on the block. there will be a dome shaped object with 3 brackets that the hose runs into. u will need a 10mm to remove the two bolts across from each other. remove thermostat and replace with new one and gasket
Take Off The Top Radiator Hose From The Engine. Remove Thermostat Housing. This Is Where You Removed The Hose From Held On By Two Bolts. Thermostat Is There. Be Sure To Clean Parts And Install New One Correctly.
