Ignition timing or valve timing?
Not sure what timing is meant but the service manual states: "The exhaust emission control system applied to this engine family is engine modifications that consist of a modified carburetor and an ignition system having optimum ignition timing characteristics."
I did not get a answer
5 degrees BTDC. remember to set the idle to 800rpm for automatic transmission and plug the vacuum advance ose before setting the timing.
The distributor is synched to zero degrees with a scan tool. It can not be done with a timing light.

The timing should be around 6-8 Degrees advanced.
it should be 4 degrees before btc

None. It may actually cause a reduction in power. The engine computer will adjust the fuel and ignition timing to try to make the oxygen sensors read correctly which is impossible with a missing cat.Plus it is highly illegal and the check engine light will be on.None.
