Rear Door Child Safety Locks (Sedan and Wagon models only) Child safetly locks are located on the rear edge of each rear door. To activate the locks, you must insert your car key into the opening and turn to the locked "vertical" position. I have a 1988 Honda civic lx and the rear passenger door has a child lock on it and I don't know how to get it open?
there is a switch on the inside of the rear door above the latching mechanism. Just give it a flip
There's no need to "add" it. It's built into the driver's door by the window switch. There is a button that locks out the windows & the rear door locks. Push it and it lights up yellow.
When you open the doors there is a lever on the door itself that you can switch up or down depending on if you want to engage or disengage the child safety locks. There should be a sticker indicating which way to lock-unlock.
when you open the back door if you look where latch is you should be able to see a rectangle shape hole if you put your key in this and turn it you can activate/de activate the child locks
No, the childproof lock disables the inside door handle so the rear seat passengers can't open their door. Someone else must open the door to let them out using the outside handle. The control for the childproof lock is usually on the edge of door and is only accessible when the door is open. The power window lock just prevents the passengers opening the windows. They both should be used together to be the most effective
blown fuse
The MK4 Golf VW that has child locks on the rear doors might have a malfunction of the switch in the front that locks the door if it pulls and clicks but does not open. Make sure that the switch by the driver is working properly. It is also possible that the cable inside the door that unlocks it has become broken. Fixing this would require taking the panel off the door to check.
