The SOHC 2.0 Ford engine is NOT an interference engine
OHV is ( Over Head Valve ) that's a pushrod design engine ( my 1995 Ford Explorer has the 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine which is the OHV engine , the 8th " character " of the VIN is an "X" SOHC is the Single Over Head Cam engine ( in the case of a Ford Explorer with the 4.0 liter SOHC , V6 engine . There is ( 1 ) camshaft on the top of each of the two cylinder heads ( VIN " E " , if it isn't a flex fuel engine )
Either the 4.0 liter SOHC - V6 engine or the 4.6 liter SOHC - V8 engine
yes
no it is not
The 2.0 liter Split Port Injection ? ( SPI ) engine is a Single Over Head Cam ( SOHC ) engine
Supposedly, the 8th digit of the VIN is a P if it's a SOHC. Also, I believe the SOHC engine block is labeled 2.0 L SPI
standard overhead cam (engine)
The Ford 4.0 liter SOHC - V6 engine has ( 3 ) timing CHAINS
The 3.0L SOHC engine is an interference engine. The 3.0L and 3.2L SHO are non-interference engines. Generally, the 3.0L SOHC is the engine used in the Ford Ranger.
If 8th VIN digit match, then yes
not gospel but 4.0 sohc engine is an interference major damage if timing chain or timing chain tensioner breaks
