My guess would be spark going to ground somewhere, coils are amazingly resilient, you can only really blow one out by severely overheating it, and I don't mean like engine compartment heat, but electrical malfunction hot.
First make sure you have only the correct " stock" plugs and resistor wires installed.
No spark.
on the drivers side of the distibutor cap using a blade electrical hook up you can plug into the opening or if there is a wire already there splice into it make sure all your grounds are in place or you will burn up you coil
It would REALLY HELP to know the year. Could be these things. Ignition module in distributer, pick-up coil in distributer, Bad COIL wire, Rotor button. Depending on the year 1996 and up it could be a CAM sensor, CRANK sensor, Ignition coil, ignition module.
check the pick up coil on the left side cover of the engine they have a stator and a little box that's the pickup coil check if its damage or the ignition coil
Connect the green wire to the negative side of the coil.
If you mean prematurely burn out, there are several things. A faulty control module or even a bad plug or wire will cause the coil to produce maximum voltage or produce voltage too often. A coil is exactly that. A winding or coil of wire energized producing voltage which is then stepped up to a higher voltage winding with a step up transformer. The more often you send current through a winding, which will cause heat, the sooner it will eventually burn out.
Check the ignition coil. Its possible that the coil has a broken wire inside that when the engine is cold makes good contact, but when the engine warms up the heat causes the wires to expand and break contact. Also check the ignition module, the same thing can happen there.
Take off the old one, put the new one on.
engine will fit, but 305 tbi will be too lean for 350 It'll burn up
if you do not have spark you will not have fuel check coil module and ignition pick up coil.
The resistance to the electric flow through the wire coil causes heat
Yes you do. You have to take the distributor shaft out of the distributor to Remove the pick-up coil / stator.
