Depends on where you will be driving it.
its a 4.3 so its a 6 cylinder truck which means it has 6 spark plugs check the plug wires from the master cylinder replace all of them and all 6 spark plugs and you should be fine. if even one of those is no good and your running on 5 cylinders you will sputter and you will even have shifting problems
adjust the chock if it has carb.
check the egr valve mine does that when under load at 10 to 15 miles when I ease up on the gas I'm going replace it , How do I know I invested in a diagnostic tester cost about 150 dollars
