Per Toyota Technical Service Bulletin dated Jun 3, 2005, the magnetic clutch relay, part number 90987-02022 fails and another part, 90987-02028 is used to replace it. Toyota will replace the part if it is still under warranty. This applies to 01-04 Camry, Echo & Celica, 02-04 4Runner, Corolla & MR2 Spyder and 03-04 Highlander, Matrix, Sienna, & Solara. Lexus models are also affected but I don't have the info on that.
As for the location of this relay, I have only looked at a 2003 Corolla. For that car the relay is located in a box just behind the battery and it is marked something like M/G CLT on the inside lid of the box.
