locate compressor on left inner fender under air filter box which will need to be removed unplug wire at compressor there are three nuts holding the compressor in. You get at them from under the car. lift out old compressor.

The air conditioner/compressor sits on the front passenger side on top of the fender. Remove the water reservoir and then you can disconnect and remove the air compressor. I do not know yet how to remove the air dryer as I cannot see how to remove the air lines from the dryer. I did remove the dryer from the compressor though, by removing a single screw then turning the 1/4 turn and pulling it out of the compressor....so at worst I will be able to put my new compressor in with the old dryer.

If the relay is clicking but the compressor is not engaging, you may have a faulty compressor. Unfortunately, you'll need to pay for a service call to see if it's a problem with the relay or something much worse.
Always use safety glasses and gloves! To remove the A/C compressor you must evacuate system & properly dispose of old R-134A. Then unbolt and remove old compressor. (You should be certified to handle R-134A to charge system)

Disconnect the oil and air lines to the compressor, disconnect the fuel pump (if yours is attached to the compressor), remove the bolts holding it in place, clean all mating surfaces of any remaining gasket material, transfer any fittings from the old compressor to the new one, and reinstall it.You want anything more specific, we need to know which engine and which model years, as some models with the MaxxForce engine used a non-unloading compressor which was driven by the flywheel.
