According to a website I was looking at : For a 1996 Ford Thunderbird : 3.8 liter V6 ( 17 city / 24 highway ) 4.6 liter V8 ( 15 city / 23 highway ) Miles per U.S. gallon
Depends on the model. There is the standard V6 model and then the 5.0. My 5.0 got about 24 Mpg on the freeway, and about 12 Mpg city. If its the V6, you can expect up to 30 Mpg freeway and about 18 city.
30 mpg
2005 FORD EXPLORER 4.0L V6 - - - combined MPG of 18.5 MPG 4.6L V8 - - - combined MPG of 17.5 MPG

My first car back in1972 . 9 to 12 mpg but gas was under .40 cents back then.
i have a 2001 ford 7.3 diesel with 190,000 and i get 12-14 mpg
The 2011 Ford E350 van gets 10 mpg city and 14 mpg highway.
The Model T Ford would average around 17 mpg. But it was capable of getting as high as 25 mpg. Roads were horrible then and 17 mpg was about average, when driving on these roads. If you happen to find a nice stretch of paved flat road you could do much better.
about 40 mpg on the highway.
