Rx7 because it is superior in handling, looks and smooth power. Also Rx7s are much rarer on the roads.
It does not stand for anything. It is just a chassis code for differing years. FD3S also just called FD is the 1992-2002 Rx7s. FC3S, or FC is the 1986-1991 Rx7s. :)
It can be as simple as an exhaust leak allowing oxygen in to cause unburned fuel to burn with a pop or bang

depending on the year on the FC 86-91 primary fuel rail in right below the throttle body and secondary fuel rail is below the LIM.
