v8 engine produced by Chevrolet beginning in 1955 characterized by it's compact size compared to others engines produced during that era. It was offered in many displacements from 262 cid to 400 cid. A small-block engine is a North American V8 in a family of engines which generally have less than 6 liters (360 in) of displacement, although some derivatives have grown larger (up to 427 in, 7.0 L). Chevrolet's small-block V8 is a not a single engine but a series of famous automobile engines built on the same basic small (for a V-8) engine block.
They are becoming more scarce but many engine machine shops can still get or have, the blocks. Remember, they have NO water jacket, so if it's for regular street use, you would be better off getting an aftermarket block, for example a 426 small block from Sunnit or Paw or building a 383 stroker or just throw a small roots type blower on any stout engine.
NASCAR uses many different engines. but in the sprint cup series. ALL SPRINT CUP CARS use carbourated Chevrolet 350 4-bolt main small block V-8s, bored out to 358. which is 5.7L. approx 800 horsepower.
1 millilitre = 0.001 litre 0.6millilitre = 0.0006 litres or 6/10000 litres a very very small amount
350 and under are small blocks. There is also a 400 small block but there is a 400 large block. 396 and up are big blocks.
