How do you remove the governor on a 1997 4.6LV8 Ford Thunderbird?
It won't happen unless you buy an aftermarket high performance
PCM like an El-Diablo or something. There is no separate "chip."
The PCM is programmed the way it's programmed by the manufacturer,
and that is the way it is. I guess you may be able to buy an
aftermarket "programmer," but I have seen a whole buncha car
engines totally messed up by that stuff, including the
aforementioned high performance PCM's. These engines are simply not
made to handle the stress of performance enhancers, that is why
there is protection software installed into the PCM. But I realise
that some folks just have money to burn on replacing engines.
