∙ 15y agoIf you have the repair manual for your vehicle, it should cover this procedure.
Simply remove the crank, remove the bearings, and lube new ones before re-installing.
Be sure to get the bearings in right. There is a little tab on one end of each bearing that lines up with corresponding notch on block where they sit. DO NOT scratch or mar the bearing surface during installation. Be sure bearing is correctly seated.
Reassemble and torque to spec.

∙ 15y agoThe thrust bearings are inside the engine. You must remove crankshaft to replace them.

Remove the engine from the car Remove the oil pan Most likely if the bearings need doing you will find the crankshaft to be damaged as well so remove the accessories and covers Remove crank shaft and send out for repair. Fit new bearings and check clearance on repaired crankshaft. Reassemble.
It's located behind the crankshaft pulley bolted to the engine block.
Your 1998 Mazda 3.1 liter engine does not have timing marks on the crankshaft. The timing marks are on the engine flywheel.

The crankshaft position sensor, on your 1992 Buick regal 3.1 liter, is located on the back of the engine. The crankshaft position sensor is on the inside of the engine cover.
