I dont think you will have to release the park brake cable... simply unbolt the caliper and the caliper bracket if neccesary, and leave the cable attached
1. Remove the cap from brake fluid reservoir 2. Loosen the lug nuts the raise car and support it securely on jack stands 3. Remove the lug nuts and wheel 4. Maybe be necessary to remove the center console and detach the parking brake cable from lever for more slack to detach it from caliper. 5. Remove the clip and disconnect the parking brake cable from bracket. Remove the two bolts and lift caliper assembly off 6. Remove the brake pads and rotate caliper piston back into caliper
in order to remove the rear caliper, you first remove the parking brake cable using a 14mm socket to remove the bolt. After removing the parking brake you can remove the caliper carrier, using a 17mm socket to remove the two caliper carrier bols this allows you to remove the caliper from the rear rotor, you can slide the caliper off of the carrier to remove it completely. to remove the rotor you can use a soft faced mallet and gently tap the inside of it and it should come right off.
1. Remove the brake hose to caliper bolt from the brake caliper. 2. Remove the brake hose from the brake caliper. 3. Remove and discard the 2 copper brake hose gaskets. These gaskets may be stuck to the brake caliper and/or the brake hose end. 4. Cap or plug the opening in the brake caliper and the brake hose to prevent fluid loss and contamination. 5. Remove the 2 brake caliper pin bolts. Remove the park brake cable from the caliper. 6. Remove the brake caliper from the brake caliper bracket.
Remove wheel Re-install 2 lug nuts to hold rotor in place Remove Parking brake cable Remove brake fluid line Remove caliper mouting bolts Slide caliper off rotor Reverse procedure for install Open bleeder screw at top of caliper Allow brake fluid to start running from caliper Have assistant apply brake pedal approx. 2/3 of complete travel Hold and tighten bleeder screw That procedure should remove air from caliper
If the parking brake uses this caliper then it is threaded a special tool (not expensive available at Sear or auto parts) is required to twist it back into the caliper body they have parking brake shoesd wich are cable drive,,,,,,, the caliper is stationary use a screw driver
It really depends on the year and model as the braking systems are different on different models, and sometimes change over the course of the model. However, since Saabs are Front Wheel Drive, a rear caliper is easier to replace than the fronts. Remove the brake line and parking brake cable (if there is one). Remove the old caliper and install the new one. Re-install the brake line and parking brake pieces. Bleed the brakes.
You can remove the parking brake lever, from the brake shoe on your Chevrolet Cavalier, by removing the retaining clip. The retaining clip connects the brake lever cable to the brake shoe.
* Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir.remove about two thirds of the fluid from the reservoir * Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts, raise and support the rear of the car on securely on jackstands * Remove the wheels.Work on one brake assembly at a time using the other assembly as a reference * Clean the brake assembly then remove the parking brake cable clip and unhook the cable from the lever.Unscrew the upper caliper bolt * Pivot the caliper out of the mounting bracket and remove the inner pad and the outer pad * Remove the upper and lower pad retainers.Remove the anti-rattle spring from the caliper and inspect it;if its cracked or otherwise damaged replace it * Remove the shims from the pads to use on new pads.Wipe off the caliper pin and lubricate it with high-temperature grease, then reinstall it in the caliper mounting bracket
Different ways in different cars, but many involve slackening the cable at the adjuster, usually about halfway along the cable. Obviously you will adjust this later after repairing whatever/
# Release the parking brake # Remove the cowl trim panel from the left side of the drivers compartment for access to the parking brake pedal # Pull back on the parking brake cable toward the control assembly (parking brake) and insert a 5/32 inch drill bit into the control actuator to lock the assembly into position # Its actually easier to pull the parking brake cable from under the vehicle but you will need an assistant to help you do this way. # Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts and raise and support the truck # Remove the brake calipers and the brake discs # Detach the parking brake cable from the actuator arm # Clean the parking brake assembly with brake cleaner # Remove the brake shoe retracting spring # Remove the adjusting screw spring and remove the adjusting screw # Remove the hold down springs from the shoes # Remove the parking brake shoes from the actuator
Defective master cylinder? Frozen caliper? Parking brake cable frozen?
