Normally the overdrive is allowed , so the overdrive OFF light does not light up When the overdrive is switched off , the overdrive OFF light will light up to let you know that the overdrive has been switched off
Overdrive on is the normally allowed position , if the overdrive switch is pushed that is located on the end of the gearshift lever the word OFF is supposed to light up
Could be a bad overdrive solenoid switch or relay. No, I don't know where they are on this car.
yes we're here, we have arrived, get ready, to pump it into overdrive! go, go, go, yeah! drive, drive don't give in; pump it into overdrive; win!
it will show on your dash
Are you assuming that your overdrive is not working? I have same problem, no indicator on dashboard to say overdrive is on or off and revs about 5000rpm at 70mph so I know overdrive is the problem. I will try to run a live feed to the one of the wires going to the overdrive switch. Does anyone know where fuse for O/D is??? Also clock flickers and interior ligh doesn't work if it's related????
the Police State is in overdrive .
Plain and simple the overdrive switch is pmost definitely bad take to a professional if you don't know what your doing,go to a shop that specializes in electrical work NOT THE DEALER,they will tell you your overdrive is burned out.
Overdrive is the normally allowed position ( in overdrive the engine doesn't rev as high , the gas mileage is better , the transmission will run cooler etc. when you drive at higher speeds )
On a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria : Overdrive is the normally allowed position , although the transmission will not shift into overdrive until the speed is higher If the overdrive is switched off , on the gauge cluster just to the right / and above the speedometer you will see the O/D OFF warning light ( if you have the digital dash it will show overdrive off in the upper right )
Not sure what you mean by "immediately". You do know that overdrive doesn't kick in until 50 mph (80 kmh)?
When the overdrive button is pushed, the overdrive is shut OFF. ======================================================= But if you push the button again the overdrive is allowed , so it would be ON So , if you are on the highway or freeway where the speed is higher just look at the RPM on your tachometer to tell if you are in overdrive because the RPM will be lower
