Remove both upper and lower radiator hoses and run your garden hose water through from the top opening.
There are flush-and-fill kits that Prestone makes. It might be more efficient to have it done professionally. I think the cap used on the coolant tank acts as the radiator cap since it mentions the pounds of pressure on the label.
There is no way to fix a catalytic converter for a 1987 Mercury Cougar, since it is a sealed and unrepairable item. Once it goes bad, you must jack up the car, unbolt the old converter, then put a new one in its place and bolt it in.
I have a 1996 Cougar XR7 that was leaking, and it turned out it was the intake manifold. Was leaking in front of the passenger side on the back. New one was 480.00. Dang car has always had a leak somewhere since it was bought new.
Install a standard flushing T using instruction that are provide with product. Flush system with water. Since drain values are not on these radiators, use a small diameter flexible tube about 5 ft long and put it in the radiator through the radiator cap and push it to the bottom of the radiator and simply siphon out water. Enough water can be extracted via siphon to get a 50/50 mixture.
the '93 cougar can swap parts with any cougar between '89 and '96. Since you have a '93, I'm guessing it's an XR-7 (performance) model, so try to find other XR-7's. You can also interchange parts with the Ford Thunderbird of the same model years.
The cast iron in the block is starting to rust. Drain the radiator, put in a good radiator flush solution and follow the directions, then fill the radiator with the right coolant. Since you're already having rust problems, put in some rust inhibitor. You may need to clean it again and put in more rust inhibitor after things settle down.
i just did this over the weekend. dont even bother with the drain cock which is located bottom of radiator tank driverside plastic plug breaks. i disconnected the lower radiator hose from radiator to drain antifreeze. do yourself a favor and buy new screw type hose clamps, factory hose clamps squeeze together are a pain to put back on. buy flush kit from prestone at auto supply store. connect flush tee to heater hose. connect garden hose to tee and flush old antifreeze until runs clear then disconnect radiator hose again to drain refill with 70/30 antifreeze since some clean water will be left in engine block..
I use the spray foam carpet cleaner on mine and leave it on just long enough to get the stains out since seat covers are very strong it doesn't seem to hurt them.
I'd guess that there's something wrong with your seat belts. Why don't you have a mechanic see then since it's unsafe to not wear seat belts while in a car?
Mercury has no climate, since it has no atmosphere.
No butter should contain mercury, since mercury is highly toxic.
Mercury in thermometers is in a liquid state, since mercury is liquid at room temperature.
