Ads generally come from one or both of two sources: the website code, or your computer (via Ad-ware). To deal with website ads, try getting one or more addons for your browser. Firefox and Opera have some good addons I know of which do this, and I'm sure Chromium does as well. My favorite is probably Ghostery (www.ghostery.com), and some other good ones are Ad Block, Ad Block Plus, and No Script. As for adware, I suggest you install one or more scanners, like Free Spybot Search & Destroy (www.safer-networking.org/mirrors) or Ad-aware (paid software). Update and scan with it/them. Either one will probably find any adware, although I think Spybot is better. Also, check your web browser addons list and disable anything you did not install--Adware often hides here.
Toggle the "Block Popups" option in Settings -> Safari.
