Well i don't think its in the tank, you are probably running a mechanical one off the block. Follow your gas line from the EFI to the pump, it is usually on with two bolts and slide it out. make sure you look to see if the pump lever is in the down or up position when you pull the pump out. if its in the up position you can put some grease on the top of the lever to keep it in place when you put the new one back in. You are lucky, its normally way easier than if its in the tank.
On a 1982 Chevy Citation the fuel pump is mounted on the lower engine block.

in 82 there were no relays controlling the fuel pump it is mecanically driven off the motor no electric its driven offf i believe the cam or crank not shure which one without going out side to look at mine.

On th right side of the engine, towards the front
My '82 has a mechanical pump toward the front of the lower part of the engine on the driver's side. If yours isn't there it's an electric pump, probably inside the gas tank.
yes it should.

Yes. Try to find another car in the junk yard that has the type of water pump you want to use and take all the pulleys and brackets from it.
Does your oil smell like it has fuel in it; if so your pump is bad and needs to be replaced. You need to remove the fuel line from the carburetor and hook a fuelPressure gauge to the line and start the truck, Now read the fuelpressure, it should have 7 to 9 LBS.
It's inside the oil pan, bolted to the fifth main bearing cap. INSIDE the crankcase. You can get to it by dropping the oil pan.
