behind the crankshaft pully at the bottom of the motor and on the back of the block
I have a knocking noise near the water pump pully or idler arm pully on my 94 chevy cavalier 2.2 motor when its at idle, if i give it more gas the noise will go away do you know what this could be? i took off the tension idle pully and checked the bearing and it was fine.
Buy a new crankshaft.
It is on the front of the motor, it will be the bottom most pully.
It's on the passanger's side of the 3.8 engine, the biggest pully (crankshaft pully) on the towards the bottom, behind the tire. You'll have to take off the tire to get to the crankshaft pully, and you'll need a 15/16 and possibly a "pully puller", I'm working on the same problem right now and the pully puller sucks so I'm trying to find another way to get the crankshaft pully off. ======================================== My edit: On a 3.1 it is in the rear of the motor. (see how to change spark plugs on 92 olds cutlass supreme) to lean how to rotate engine forward to gain access. My local GM dealer to me it was at the crankshaft pully, an hour later, it was not there! Went to the library and looked it up in a Chilton... yes it is in the rear of the motor! And yes, they (the old CKP sensor) often test good, within spec but are actually bad! I know from experience!
That would be a destroked motor, and would result in a 285.
on the left lower side of the engine block
No. The length is ok, but the journals are different.
Replace shoes brake 2003 Chevy
The crankshaft sensor is located on the side of the motor towards the firewall. It is located more towards the oil filter,
It is located on the passenger side of the vehicle, at the crankshaft, (pully at the bottom of the motor) if you remove the wheel on the passenger side, and the inner fender cover between the body and the lower frame member, you will be able to see a portion of the crank pully, on the back side of the motor (side closest to the vehicle cabin) the sensor is located behind the pully, you should see a wire (in wire loom casing) coming down from a harness above. follow that down to the sensor.
it should be on the back of the motor at least it is for my cavalier 96 Here is a much better explan. Passenger side next to the coolant bottle and Driver side between transmission housing and body rail. The only thing that is left is the Torque Strut underneath the engine next to the crankshaft pully.
