You may be able to change octanes between seasons ( reduce
octane in winter ) to obtain the most cost-effective fuel without loss of
driveability.
The manufacturer's recommendation is conservative, so you may be able to
carefully reduce the fuel octane. The penalty for getting it badly wrong,
and not realising that you have, could be expensive engine damage. If you use a fuel with an octane rating below the requirement of the engine,
the management system may move the engine settings into an area of less
efficient combustion, resulting in reduced power and reduced fuel economy.
You will be losing both money and driveability. If your vehicle does not have a knock sensor, then using a fuel with an
octane rating significantly below the octane requirement of the engine means
that the little men with hammers will gleefully pummel your engine to pieces. The bottom line is that you might be able to move to a 89 octane level fuel but it will cause a loss of power & mileage, and may cause engine damage. My advice is to use the exact octane fuel listed in your owner's manual. That way you get to most the engine has to offer, in power & mileage. And you do not take a chance of ending up with engine damage.
87 Octane
RSX - "regular" unleaded with at least 85 octane, no ethanol. RSX type S - higher compression motor, requires 91 octane, no ethanol.
The same gasoline you use in domestic cars. Just be sure and use the octane recommended by the manufacture. Do not use a higher octane than is recommended. Doing so, is a waste of money and will provide no benefit whatsoever. Also do not use a lower octane or you may cause pre-detonation which could result in engine damage.
93 octane
The Mercury EFI outboards require a minimum octane rating of 87. Since the engine will operate on the lower octane fuel, it is a matter of personal preference.
If your car says it requires gasoline with a specific octane rating ... Well, it will probably operate with a lower octane rating, but it will be very bad for the engine and for your gas mileage. However, you don't need to use an octane rating any higher than your engine specifies, and there's likely no real benefit to doing so.
87 octane
Yes. All Unleaded Gasoline Mercedes Benz vehicles require Premium (91 Octane and above) Gasoline. Do not use anything other than Premium Gasoline. Lower grade gasoline can harm the engine.
Any gasoline rated at least 87 octane.
For gasoline- engine models destined for use on the North American continent, 87 Octane.
Yes you can use premium gasoline in unleaded because premium gasoline is also unleaded. The only reason it is called premium gasoline is because it has a higher octance then regular unleaded. Regular unleaded has an octane rating of 87 and premium has an octane rating of 92. Premium gasoline burns slower then regualr gas because it has a higher octane rating.
One can use an unleaded gasoline of a Toyota 4AF. Premium gasoline may also be used since it is also a type of unleaded gasoline with higher octane.?æ
