The Babington Letter was a correspondence in 1586 revealing a plot to assassinate Queen Elizabeth I of England. It was written by Anthony Babington to Mary, Queen of Scots, discussing a plan to overthrow Elizabeth and place Mary on the English throne. The letter was intercepted by Elizabeth's spies, leading to Babington's arrest and ultimately Mary's execution.
