350 Historically a 396 has valve and lifter problems. A 350, of which I have owned a half a dozen, are great motors.

Bore your block .030" oversize and fit it with a 3.875" crankshaft and the appropriate rods and pistons.
the 396 with 325 horse, the 396 with 350 horse and the 396 with 375 horse.
There are several flywheels for each motor. You need to measure the flywheel or clutch mounting bolt holes and compare.

Any small block chevy(262 - 400 excluding 396) from 1955 to current will fit in your car. Depending on the year of the engine you could need more parts than others. So yes the 85 350 will fit. you may have to change the bell houseing on the tranny....well and of course the exhaust

They dont make a 350 big block.The big block starts at 400. Wrong! 400 is still a smallblock. Big block Chevys start at 396, but does not include the 400, which the heads/crank and starter/etc. fit on the 350/305 etc.
