Ford recommends using 5w-20 so why would you want to use 10w30? Do you know something about this engine that Ford missed? Use 10w-30 at your own risk.

On top of your engine you should see a cover with writing on it Triton 5.4L or Triton 4.6L, exc. depending on year. These covers are on the 1997 to 2009 ford trucks.

If it's over 100,000 miles I would say 10w30 conventional motor oil, not synthetic as this may damage your engine. Otherwise if it's under 100,000 miles consult your owners manual.
Any SAE approved detergent 10w30 motor oil. I personally prefer Valvoline but just about anything sold in the US is good. If the engine has high mileage you may want to consider a high mileage motor oi still 10w30.
