∙ 18y agoOut of Transmission Fluid, broken/disconnected shift linkage, failed pump, bad valve body seals, faulty torque converter... Any of the above or possibly even other problems could cause what you describe.

∙ 18y agoYou need to have the trans computer checked for trouble codes. The car will not shift out of 2nd when the system detects a problem and sets a code.

They don't. Most racing trans have straight cut gears. Spur cuts are a little easier to shift.

By moving the shifter to the left will make the trans shift manually. So by slapping it to the left (sort of speak) will downshift it thru all the gears. Opposite for shifting it back up thru the gears.
try adding trans fluid
governor on side of transmission inoperable,not spinning its a centrifugal switch.
