You need to pressure test the system for leaks and repair as needed. Check and see if the fan clutch is working. An easy way to do so is to put a newspaper sheet in front of the grill. If it stays up against the grill with the engine running the fan is working ok. The thermostat could be defective or you possibly could have a bad radiator.
