I watched a neighbor's house burn to the ground when I was in grade school, because the father used gasoline as a cleaning solvent while working on a motorcycle engine. The vapors of the gasoline had spread across the floor, into the walls of the basement/garage, and found the flame of the pilot light in the water heater! By the time the fire department arrived the building was so involved that they could do nothing to put the fire out, so all they did was prevent embers from spreading the fire to the buildings of the neighbors.

There are much safer cleaning solvents available, don't be a fool like that father was!
