You can reset the check engine light on a 2007 Dodge Dakota by unhooking the battery. Leave it unhooked for 10 minutes before reconnecting it.
You need to have the engine and abs checked for codes.

There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.
disconnect the positive battery cable for about 10 minutes
Repair the problem and then reset it with an OBD2 scan tool.
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem - usually in the emission control system
The check engine light comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, a check engine light is lit when there is a problem in the emissions or somthing that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions. If the check engine light is flashing a misfire has been detected
remove neg. battery cable for 10 min. and reconnect. that should reset the light.
