Oil is bad for the environment because whenever it leaks into a body of water, the oil makes it hard for the animals that live under the body of water to breathe. Since it is very thick and slick, it kills the birds that fly into the oil to look for food. The oil covers the birds wings and makes it hard for them to fly so they die from lack of food. Then when since it can't supply air for the sea animals, they go up looking for air and end up getting covered in oil which makes it harder for them to survive.
