I had the same problem on my 1998 Ford Expedition XLT. Spray some WD-40, in all the door jams including the hatch / back door. This should take care of problem.
Day time running lights?
usually due to a defective daytime running light module failure..
They are day time running lights. You can turn them of by pulling out the day time running light fuse. Saab manual will help you locate the fuse.
you might need a new alternator. thas what happend to mine. Did any dash board lights come on and the radio start changing by itself?
Stay inside and turn all lights or macines off.
Check the daytime running lights module. This has failed with other manufactures resulting in lights that stay on, or are very dim while the vehicle is running.

I experienced this problem when I first brought my used '98 Expy home. I searched Ford Forums and found that the latches seem to get stuck in either of the doors (i.e. drivers. passenger and hatch) I sprayed W40 on the inside opening of the door latches and in the actual latch itself and slammed my door several times and to my delight, the lights went out (interior and running board as well. Probably one of your door switches. These are the little nipple looking buttons that tell the truck when to turn on the lights (when you open the doors). You should be able to push it shut with your finger and see if there is still voltage going through the switch to tell which one is bad. There is no real short cut for this.
You need to replace the DRL (Daytime running light) Module
If the brake lights stay on when the car is not running on most vehicles, including the 1994 Dodge Intrepid, there is probably a short somewhere in the wiring to the brake lights. The first place to investigate this problem would be the wires along the firewall that control the brake lights. Also, check the brake light switch above the brake pedal.
Brake lights could stay on in a 1999 Dodge Stratus because of a short in the wiring. If the headlamps are off and the brake lights are still on, check the wiring for the brake lights that is inside the trunk. Sometimes cargo in the trunk can interfere with the lights.
