I have the C4 platform and I've been searching for months, nobody seems to know where the fuse is, however, I have reason to believe it is somewhere hidden under the drivers side dash. It is not located in the fuse box on the drivers side where the rest of the fuses are.

Its 33 in my A4 so prob the same in A6. UPDATE: He's right, it's fuse #33 in the A6. Refer to the inside of the fuse box panel for the numbering diagram. If for some reason you don't have the fuse panel diagram, you can find the "number" of each fuse slot by looking at the empty slots. On my 1998 Audi A6, the 11, 16 and 17 fuse slots are empty, so I used their locations to predict the numbering pattern. As luck had it, the 15 amp fuse in the #33 slot had a different "font" than the other fuses. This told me that it had been replaced in the past. I pulled it out and sure enough, it was blown.
