The manual transmission doesn't have a dipstick , the fluid level is checked at the fill plug on the transmission
I cannot find the transmission lipstick on my 1998 F-150 with a manual transmission.
For a 1983 F150, the transmission dipstick is?æsticking out of the transmission. The transmission is located at the rear left side of the in-line engine.
For a 1994 Ford F-150 : The AUTOMATIC transmission fluid level dipstick is in the engine compartment , near the firewall , towards the passenger side of the engine compartment , where the transmission is bolted to the rear of the engine * the manual transmission does not have a dipstick

Assuming you mean a manual transmission, since you said gear oil, there is not a dipstick on manual transmissions. Look on the side of the transmission. There will be two large nuts to drain and fill. The bottom to drain, the top to fill. You should have your fluid level with the fill plug hole. BTW, I have an 86 F-150 4x4 5.0 EFI and the NP435 4-speed manual transmission.

dip stick for transmission is over to one side behind the engine.
You can find a 1981 Ford F150 manual transmission diagram inside the vehicle's owner's manual. Some auto stores also have the diagram available.
