This does come with a factory amplifier for the sound system. Sometimes it comes disconnected and needs to be reattached.
I had problems finding mine ('96 Nissan 4wd king cab), because there is a factory installed amplifier under the passenger seat, so all the wires going to the speakers change colour after exiting the amp. Have a look at what goes into and out of the amp... i just ended up bypassing mine.
The 2003 Lincoln Town Car factory amplifier is located in the trunk. The factory installed amplifier will be on the dividing wall between the back seat and the trunk.
A 2007 Chevy Avalanche will only have an external factory amplifier if it is equipped with a Bose stereo system. If there is a factory amp included, it will be underneath the center console.
No cars have factory amplifiers, though if it does its in the trunk
If you are trying to put in a new stereo I have your answer. The 96 continental that i have ( i am assuming that yours being a year older is the same) came with a factory amplifier. Thus, the stereo head unit is wired directly this amplifier ( unlike standard stereos which have speakers directly wired to the head unit. This amplifier is located in the trunk, you must remove the top panel in the trunk closest to the back seats to acess it. From the amplifier the wires run to the four door panel speakers. Once you acess this amplifier you can proceed with any modifications that you wish to make. mkelly12@ramapo.edu
