The crankshaft position sensor bolt size isÊdependent upon the type of engine. In most cases the crankshaft position sensor 9/16.
in my Renault scenic (2,0 16V, 2003) (not grand scenic) the obd2 socket is under the movable middle console. Move the console backwards and lift a plastic lid which appears under the console and you see the 16 hole obd2 socket. Eberhard

NEAR THE REAR OF THE CRANKSHAFT. IT CAN BE SEEN THRU THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR HOLE WHEN REMOVED THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT ONES 16 & 32 TOOTH

there is no " timing belt " sensor, but there are 2 sensors that control the timing. One is the crankshaft sensor and the other one is the camshaft sensor.
Hi Scenic owner, The earlier models of Scenic - 1997 to 1999 were fitted with 14" wheels, the later models ie.. updated to 16 valve - are fitted with 15" wheels. The wheel size is also located on the tyre wall ie.. 14,15,16 Hope this helps
The sensor is under the a/c compressor. loosen the four 10 mm bolts for the compressor and slide it aside. Then you can remove the 5/16 bolt for the sensor and remove it.

There are no timing marks, the crankshaft must be TDC and the camshafts have cuts on the end the cut looks central but it isn't, the low side goes to the bottom and should be locked in place.
The crank sensor is located behind the passenger side head, in through the bell housing. It is held in place by two bolts that require a 5/16 Allen socket to remove.
