in the engine compartment......the passenger side inner fenderwall lifts out ( 2 tabs to release).....the ecm is right there, the rectangular box with all the wires coming out of it.
this is a good answer. if you have strut tower braces, you will have to remove the two bolts closest to the headlights and loosen the one closest to the strut so you can swing it out of the way. On the tabs mentioned above, they are clearly visible; carefully pry them up with your fingers (the side closest to the motor). You can see the ECM secured to the wheel well, remove the 4 nuts with a 10 mm socket. You should have a cover over the the four wire bundles that plug into the unit. Just slid it away from the direction the wires are coming from and it will come right off. Each of the four wire bundles have a locking tab on either side. Press these together and gently work the plug-in out of the unit (you may need to carefully use a flat screwdriver to pry the male end of the wire bundle away from the unit).
Yes. But they use different wire harnesses and ECM's. The 93 has less electronics than the 96 year Lumina's.
FUBAR the ECM..$$$$$$$
I think the module is in the distributor with two phillips screws
the ecm on this van is on the passenger side behind the plastic kick plate
i have a 2001 Chevy lumina and i am wondering if the ECM is going out, sometimes it will die when i am driving but starts right back up, sometimes it will die and not start up after several hours of sitting, then it starts up. Could this be the ECM?
Yes
1992 & 1998 Chevy Lumina 3.1L ECM Box LocationI finally found it on my 1992 Chevy Lumina 3.1 Liter. It is on the right side of the engine compartment behind the overflow reservoir container bolted to the shock tower. 1998 Chevy Lumina 3.1L ECM Box LocationI found it on my 1998 Chevy Lumina 3.1 Liter. Car: It is on the right side (Passenger side) of the engine compartment in front the overflow reservoir container and behind Radiator Cap.It is also under small fuse box.The ECM is in small black plastic box (about 1.5 Gallons).You remove the engine right bracket (3 -12 mm bolts) to get to this box then remove two clips on the black box cover... the ECM has two plugged in multi conductor cables. Using nut driver 9/32 th inch (7 mm) to take out these cables .ECU has part # ID 16236757
Pull the liner out of the glove box, it is behind and a bit down from there...
There are a number of signs that become apparent when an ECM computer on a 1990 Chevy is going bad. The top signs include a non-functioning speedometer and flashing codes on the dash.
Inside cab, behind passengers side kick panel.
The 1991 > 1994 Chevy Lumina Speedometer, Odometer and maybe the RPM gauge gets a signal from the ECM computer. This ECM signal is feed to a module in the instrument panel, which feeds the three items above. If all three are not working replace the instrument panel or the module (which is inside the panel), but swap the odometer to keep your mileage correct for the vehicle. Note: The ECM gets its signal from a VSS on the Transmission and the ECM feed three areas in the car: Speed Control, Speedometer and one other (?). If the speed control works, the problem is not the VSS or the ECM. The problem is in the Instrument Panel.
under the hood on the passenger side looks like a little grill with a plug or 2 in it !---------------!=! !---------------! !==== !---------------!=! !---------------!=! !---------------! !==== !---------------!=!
