if i remember correctly you have a heavy duty cable that goes to the battery and a light cable typically red that goes to ignition posative via the charge indicator light and some alternator have a earth wire as they are insulated this varies from make to make of alternator and vehicle maufacturer but the principle is the same
from the back of the alternator to the dash to the battery
Number of Wires to an AlternatorThat depends on:the alternator, the wiring system in the vehicle
need diagram for 1986 Nissan truck alternator
It is at the rear of the alternator, in the plug that hold the wires that are incerted at the rear.
The wires that go off the alternator are fused, meaning that will break the circuit by melting.
how do you take the wires from the alternator on a 1997 Toyota Tercel
first what i do is take pictures of the wires and the bracket then u take off the wires from the back of the alternator make sure u know where they go then take off the 2 bolts holding on the alternator.
disconnect the battery. Remove the alternator belt then disconnect the wires. Unbolt the alternator and remove. Bolt the new alternator in then connect the wires, belt, and battery.
Use a large wrench to take tension off of your serpentine belt and remove the belt from the alternator, (just the alternator). Disconnect the wires. Remove the bolts then the alternator. Put new alternator in place using old bolts. Replace wires (may only be one wire, depending on the alternator). Get your large wrench back out, put the belt back on the alternator, and your good to go.
Disconnect the battery, loosen tensoiner, " the top middle wheel, under distributor cap" disconnect the wires on the alternator , unbolt and good to go
alternator wires
Disconnect the battery negative. Loosen the belt and remove it from the alternator pulley. Disconnect all wires from the alternator. Unbolt the alternator from the bracket. Remove the alternator.
