The cause of the squealing sound is because you are turning the steering wheel completely to the right or left
Turning the steering wheel farthest left or right for a few seconds will cause a loud squealing.
Power Steering Fluid Or Power Steering Pump
A loose or worn belt. Also check the power steering fluid.
Could be a worn belt, failing power steering pump or low power steering fluid.
It is very hard to turn the steering wheel and/or a whining or squealing noise when you turn the steering wheel.
Many things can cause that, the simplest cause being lack of power steering fluid.
if the pump has failed completely it will cause stiff turning, obviously not being assisted by power. if the pump is failing there may be a squealing sound when turned in either direction. This is not to be confused with the squealing made when turning the wheel to its limits.
Low steering fluid can cause a steering wheel to whine when turning. A worn steering belt can also cause a steering wheel to whine when a car is being turned.
The steering wheel will be harder to turn. First sign is squealing when turning, but why don't you open the hood, unscrew the cap on the steering pump, and look.
Turn the steering wheel right to turn right in reverse.
When you turn the steering wheel all the way till it stops and hold it there the pump is still trying to push fluid into the steering piston but it wont go any farther, and this puts a tremendous load on the pump which can cause belt squeal, its like pushing a car with the brake on a lot of effort for no result. So try this, when you have turned the wheel as far as it can go back off a little bit and see if it continues.
