How do you replace rear struts on 97 LeSabre?
Pull back the liner in the trunk. If there are 2 bolts holding the top of the strut this job is possible. If there is 1bolt & a hole to the top of the strut with a torx bit or hex you cant do it. It compresses the coil spring so the top of the strut can come off. Once the top of the strut is exposed the coil can be taken off the strut.

The top of the strut rod should be flattened slightly into a rectangular shape. It should be enough that you can take a crescent wrench and hold the flattened part with it. Use an open end wrench for the nut, putting it on first, then the crescent. Turn them opposite directions to loosen the nut.
