anywhere on the frame rails
The safest place to place jack stands are under the frame. You need to jack the car high enough to keep the tires off the ground especially if you plan on working on the breaks or axles. Keep them away from the car WHILE lifting but place under the FRAME once the car is elevated.
place jack on frame or jack slant behind front tires. Better yet, purchase a pair of ramps and drive the vehicle up on them.

Get a jack two jack stands, jack the front of the car up and place the two jack stands under the car, then go to where the transmission is and take the bolt off, then there should be a filter that says transmission filter, the one that says transmission filter will tell you both what part of car you're draining the fluid from and the filter you are taking off. Transmission filters are generally smaller than oil filters. The bolt that you take out should be very close or on the other side touching the same part of the car. Then plug it up when its done draining then jack the car up, take the jack stands off and jack it down. Finally, open the hood and replace the transmission fluid.
