Remove the transmission oil pan
as far as i know you cant check the transmission fluid on a 2000 Pontiac sunfire. It uses dexcool automatic transmission fluid and very rarley needs to be changed, i have a manual shift and it never has to be changed. Actually the only way that you can change it is by having it flushed the same way you flush a radiator, it has to be sucked out by a machine.
You'll have to pull the transmission pan, and drain the fluid. This is a messy job. I recommend having it done at the shop if you can.
no.... Pontiac changed to a new transmission in 2000
The amount of transmission fluid that is needed by a 2000 Sunfire 2.2 automatic varies, depending on what you need your car for. Generally, it will only take 3 ounces.
your vehicle does not have a dipstick tube, your trans is a sealed unit and cannot have fluid added to it.the only way to check your fluid level is at the transmission itself.there is a plug on the passenger side top area of your trans case
Dexron III automatic Transmission fluid should be used in a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM. This can be picked up at almost any general store.
where is the location posslook sensor three wires , 2000 pontiac sunfire
There is a cap that says transmission fluid only on it. It should have yellow or red writing.
On the top of the transmission there is a red cap. that cap comes off and you add fluid through there.
Unfortunately there isn't one.
Car on level surface, engine warmed up, trans in park to check; add dextron lll fluid little by little through the same ( marked trans)dipstick with a transmission fluid funnel. These items are available at any mart store.
