This is because the tail light bulb has a different element in the bulb. Just replace the bulb and that will fix the problem.

One for the tail light and one for the brake light. The brake light part is still connected but the one for the tail light is broken. All of this is inside the bulb. Happens all the time. Just need to replace the tail light bulb.

Have you checked your bulbs ? The tail light / brake light bulb has 2 wires inside it In my case I have had to change each bulb because the brake light portion did not work but the tail light portion of the bulb did ( I'm assuming that your front park lights are working )
