Pinion is necessary to get to and replace the pinion crush sleeve that controls the pinion pre-load. It is also stated that a complete teardown of the differential is necessary as well.
The only torque you should be concerned with is the torque it takes to rotate the pinion gear alone, 8-14 inch pounds for old bearings, 16-29 in/lbs. for new bearings. The torque it takes to crush the crush collar (tightening the pinion nut) will be above 140 foot lbs. and this will set your tension on the pinion bearings. If you put a new crush collar in you are going to have to remove axles and carrier to get the proper pre-load on the pinion bearings.
The easiest way would be to make a bushing with the same ID as the OD of the shaft and the OD as the ID of the pinion. If there is no great load on it a press fit might suffice. If there is a heavy load, the bushing and shafts would need to be keyed to prevent spinning. This is assuming that we are not talking about an automobile ring and pinion gear. The loads and stresses imposed on an automobile ring and pinion are too great. ID = inside diameter OD = outside diameter
Spring Pre-load adjustment for rear suspension. Spring pre-load can be adjusted by rotating the cam ring at the base of the spring. Rotate it clockwise to increase pre-load or counter clockwise to decrease pre-load. Use the spanner wrench provided in the owners tool kit for the adjustment. Both cam rings must be indexed on the same notch. If you need anymore info on cb650 go to catsass site - I have a manual for it.
There is no specific pinion nut torque. The pinion nut has to be tightened until the proper pinion preload is established. Pinion preload is what matters
Preload is the amount the pinion bearings are squeezed together by the pinion nut.
stop cheating on your phase test level 2 or im tellin
Wrong amount of pre-load on the bearings or bad bearings my guess is wrong pre-load. Too tight is bad and too loose is also bad. Could have been not lubed as well.
Corkscrews have rack and pinion gears.
The pinion gear meshes with the steering rack.
a crown and pinion is a st of gears that mesh at an angle.
Bolt pre-tension is also called induced load or clamp load. Induced load in the bolt is the load generated in the bolt at a particular torque value. This induced load value is generally 75% of the proof load value. Parveen Lohera Sr. Manager-QA Deepak Fasteners Limited, INDIA
