Airplanes has no need for a transmission like a car. A propeller runs efficiently at about 2000 RPM as for most piston engines.

The only transmission found will be in the form of a reduction gear, between the engine and the propeller. Most turboprops will have this feature, since the engines rotates at very high rpm, converted into high torque, low rpm for the propeller.

Many airplanes can change the angle of their propellers, making them produce more thrust, at a higher "angle of attack" with a slower speed. So we are getting the same work done at a lower rotation speed, which is the principle of a transmission.

What is the use of airplane modes on Airplanes?

Many electronic devices that transmit radio signals may interfere with aircraft systems, so the airplane mode when activated, silences all radio transmission in the device.

Do a small airplane used a automatic transmission?

They use a fixed, gear reduction transmission which reduces the number of rotations of the propeller from the number of rotations of the crankshift. The pilot doesn't do any shifting.

What is an aerogram?

An aerogram is a telegram whose transmission included at least one segment sent via airplane, or a wireless message.

And parking a vehicle with a manual transmission in close proximity to an aircraft what gear is the transmission left in?

Whatever gear will make the vehicle move away from the airplane if it starts to move under its own power with no one at the controls.

If mobile is switched off is there transmission of rf signals?

No.In "Airplane" mode or when switched off there are no radio frequency emissions from a cell phone.

What is the significance of the mayday said by airplane pilots?

The mayday transmission made by airplane pilots is a distress signal. MAYDAY spoken clearly indicates a pilot and/or aircraft in an emergency situation. Air Traffic Control then tells the pilot to switch to the emergency frequency 121.5.

How many gears are there in an air craft?

I don't beleive there are any, since there is no transmission in an airplane. airspeed is controlled by a throttle, which adjusts how much fuel is being sent into the engine.

What do the elavators on an airplane do?

The elevator section of an airplane is located in the aft of the airplane, or on the little wings in the back section of the airplane. The elevators move the airplane on its vertical axis, thereby making the airplane climb or descend.
