Serpentine means "snake-like". The serpentine belt is the belt found on many vehicles that "snakes around and runs key components such as alternator, waterpump, Power Steering pump and air conditioner. It is a single belt that runs multiple components as opposed to vehicles without serpentine belts which usually have separate belts for each component. ie. alternator belt, power steering pump belt.
Timing Belt, and a serpantine belt
If its from the engine bay, check the serpantine belts, and the timing belt. My old Toyota paseo had a bad serpantine belt and it did squeak alot. Also check all the pulleys make sure theyre not wobbly.
They have a tensioner that automatically tightens the belt, maybe yours needs to be changed or you need a new belt.
Never use belt dressing on a serpentine belt. Clean the dressing off and recheck the pulleys.
Check under the hood for the manufacturer sticker. Gives you everything you need.
Change it when there are visible cracks developing on the belt or when it causes noise.
just a ratchet. put square in square push down on tensioner
You cannot adjust the belt. It is self adjusting by way of a spring loaded tensioner at the front of the engine block. The air conditioning compressor is driven by the serpantine belt. It may be stretched.
go find a 86 or newer sbc car it will have one on it
Had that same problem on my 93 the tensioner wore out. had to have it replaced.
Depends on which engine you have. Caterpillar, Cummins, and Powerstroke diesels were available for the F750 at various times, as well as Triton gas engines.
Yes you can. Just put on a smaller serpantine belt. Thats what i did and works fine. My wife couldn't stand the ac anyway.
