If you mistakenly fill up the tank of a non-diesel car with diesel fuel, you have to drain the tank. DO NOT START THE CAR, NOT EVEN FOR A FEW SECONDS. If you can drain the tank without ever starting the engine, there shouldn't be too much damage to the engine, if any at all. But if you start the car, and diesel fuel is fed into the engine.....well, you'll be either shopping for a new engine, or paying your mechanic a small fortune to rebuild it. The engine will have to be stripped down to nuts and bolts, cleaned, and reassembled. That's not a cheap job at all.... For more information please see the answer to the Related Questionshown below.
Never put gas in a diesel car. And never put diesel in a gas car. An engine is built to handle one and not the other.
Putting diesel into a car made to take regular gas is a very bad idea. Diesel can really mess up a car's fuel system, resulting in the need for expensive repairs.
I believe Mercedes run off regular gas, it could possibly be the name of the car but not the type of gas it runs off of. To find out if it does or not visit the nearest car dealership that sells a Mercedes Diesel and ask about it.
get that gas out of there as much as you can and then fill it with diesel a little regular gas will be ok and is ok to mix with diesel and will actauly clean it a little
regular gas
If you have a diesel powered engine then nothing much would happen, the car would run a little richer than it should but will pass when you fill up again. If you car is NOT diesel then you may have an issue. I suggest flushing out your gas tank right away. It may not harm it right away, but if you continue to add diesel it will definitely harm your engine. But like i said, a diesel engine can handle normal fuel mixed in, it is actually advised to do so in cold weather so it makes it easier to start the car.
the 2012 mustang will run on regular gas
There are a number of different diesel cars out there, and the type of diesel car you get will be thoroughly dependent on where you live. For example, some diesel cars can get extraordinary gas mileage, but they run off a water cooling system. In places that see the temperature drop below freezing on a regular basis, this type of diesel car may not be the best diesel car for you.
In small amounts diesel will not affect operation, but eventually as the mixture becomes more diesel than gas it will not burn in a gasoline car, and will damage a diesel vehicle. If you have mixed more than 5% diesel with your gas you should probably drain and start over to avoid damage.
The engine may not start and/or have poor performance. Drain gas tank and fill with proper fuel.
