Neither your oil filter, or the fill cap need to be loose, the filter should be screwed on as tight as you can get it by hand only, and the fill cap should fit snugly so it does not come off. If the oil filter is loose or too tight you can blow out the seal which will cause you lose all your oil.

The Oil Filter is on the top of the engine, to the left of the valve cover. It has a plastic cap that can be wrenched off. The Oil Filter is not a sealed filter that you are used to seeing. It drops in where you removed the black cap.
There is a large plastic cover under the hood covering the engine. On right side it says "oil filter". Under that is the oil filter. You need to remove the 4 bolts holding on the plastic cover and then remove the cap to the oil filter (with an oil filter wrench). The oil filter is inside. The cap does not get replaced.
Remove engine cover and its next to the oil cap its a round plastic cap unscrew with the special tool or a big plyers and filter is under cap
Oil filter is on the front of the engine Beside the intake manifold there is a black cap Inside this cap is the filter (cartridge style)
