There are a couple of things that can drain the battery on your impala. If you have a new battery and it is dead overnight and you have to jump start it, check your positive and negative cables to be sure they are secured properly and not loose at any connection point. You might also have a short in your wiring that is not alowing the power to be turned off to a sourse, ie. a speaker, the radio, any thing such as an electornic compass, thermometor, or dome light. Also if you have an auto start on your vehicle try turning the switch to an off position when you turn off the car. If that fixes it. take it back to the installer and have them fix their install. Dead cell in the battery requiring a replacement battery or some light is on that is draining the battery. Can also be a stuck relay.
Well it maybe that the battery is to small for the truck or the alternator is bad
the diodes in the alternator have gone
Defective alternator.
altenator
I have heard the alternator does it,cold drains the battery too,if it's not started for awhile can kill it.
The main cause of battery drains is a bad electrical system. The electrical system is normally powered by the alternator and once the alternator goes bad the battery has a hard time holding a charge,
Then something is on pulling power from the battery. Check all lights and relays.
Alternator is defective or the battery has a dead cell and will not take a charge. Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. You should have between 13.5-16 volts. Anything less and your alternator is bad.
I would suspect a bad alternator and battery, have them both checked at the parts store. A car with a fully charged battery and a bad alternator will run until the battery is drained and then quit.
you have an unknown drain on the battery. have an automotive electrical shop trace the problem. Depends on how battery is draining. If you charge it with jumpers or charging "device" and it drains quickly, like within a couple hours of use after a full charge, you may have an alternator problem. At the auto shop visit suggested above, have them check your alternator (it creates the energy that the battery stores...no energy generation, the battery then drains what you put in it with a jump or a charging device). Other problem may be bad battery, which can't hold a charge.
If your alternator stops working you are powering the vehicle on your battery and your battery is not being charged by your faulty alternator so eventually as the battery drains down the car will stop running. Avoid using any electrical power...ie...lights, power windows ect and get your alternator repaired immediatley.
