FRICTION, lots of it. This is usually caused by lack of lubrication in the wheel bearing. This can also be caused by excessive brake use since brakes create heat due to friction. Question to you: Is this wheel hub glowing orange? or do you just feel heat coming from it? If it's glowing, big problem (take your vehicle to repair facility). If it's heat, that may be normal.

When the wheel bearing or hub assembly goes bad in any car, you will hear a moaning sound from that wheel which will increase/decrease with speed. Also if you jack up the car, you might feel play in that wheel.
Hello, I just did this on my 1994 Aerostar EB AWD. The front wheel bearings are part of the wheel hub assembly. The bearing is not replaceable by itself. Jack it up, remove the wheel, remove the axle nut, remove the 3 13mm 12pt. bolts on the inner side of the hub assembly (spray with penetrant and hope for the best), tap the hub with a hammer and remove. New hub assembly can be had for @$100.00 at local auto parts store.
It will but not as effectively.

If the truck is a 4 wheel drive, you can't repack the front wheel bearings. It has a sealed hub/bearing assembly that is not serviceable.
jack the car up remove wheel remove hub replace bearings put it back together
