It is usually caused by excessive blow by out of the crankcase. Blow by is usually caused by worn/cracked rigs or a hole in the piston. The fastest test to see if yo haveworn rings is to hold on the brake put it in drive and give i gas while holding on the brake and see if you have smoke ot of wherete pcv vale should be. if you do it proably means you nead a rebuild or a new motor. I know because i just had this problem with a 454.
