Not sure if your having the same problem, but I bought a 2005 Volvo S60 2.5T from a dealer a few days ago and while test driving I heard a scraping noise when turning left.
They said they would look into it and fix it. Today they told me they have
'replaced the front bump stops' which was making the noise...
Check the Steering Fluid level!! My cap was not closing properly, that was why it lost fluid so I cleaned the cap and refilled steering fluid... Works perfectly fine.
I would suspect a CV joint is bad.
It probably needs steering fluid.
An expert would have to hear the noise. Some possibilities are dry top bearing of the shocks, horn ring loose in steering wheel, tire rubbing on frame - -
bad rack and pinion
If a car makes noise when turning the tie rod can be worn. Tie rods allow a vehicle to turn, when they fail the steering wheel will knock and rattle making all kinds of noises.
If the sound is a loud growling , whining, noise you're probably low on power steering fluid. Now the cause of the fluids loss is WHERE ?
if clicking is in turns than a front axle needs replaced. if turning right it is your left axle-- turning left it is your right axle!! the clicking is the cv joint in axle.
Power Steering pump my have a leak...
Might be due to low/no fluid level in the power steering reservoir.
So check the steering linkage, bushings and joints in the front wheel assembly.
Front drive axle joints bad
No ... However, don't turn the steering wheel (power steering) from one extreme to the other. Don't turn it all the way right or left, if you do it will damage the steering unit. Stop turning when you hear the noise and back off.
