According to my Chilton's Auto Repair Manual : For a ( 1970 ) Lincoln Continental , 460 cubic inch V8 engine The ignition timing is set at ( 10 * Before Top Dead Center )
The timing for a 460 Ford engine is 14 degrees before top dead center. The engine should idle at about 600 rpm.
loosen the nut holding the distributer in place and turn the distributer clockwise or counter-clockwise. You will need a timng light to see the timing mark on the harmonic balancer. There will probably be complete instructions with the timing light.
Gose counterclockwise on 302-360-390 and 460.
NEED A TIMING LIGHT LOOK AT THE CRANK FOR TIMING MARK LOOK FOR TIMING MARKS ON TIMING HOUSING FIND OUT TIMING SPECS CHECK MARKS WITH LIGHT IF ADJUSTMENT IS NECESSARY LOOSEN BRACKET BOLT ON LOWER PART OF DISTRIBUTER AND ADVANCE OR RETARD TIMING BY TWISTING DISTRIBUTER RECHECK TIMING AND RE-TIGHTEN BOLT
turn it to the right.
www.motorcraft.com shows the ignition timing for a 1979 F150 with the 460 cubic inch ( 7.5 liter ) V8 , automatic transmission , as 14 degrees BTDC

According to my Chilton's Auto Repair manual : For the 460 cubic inch V8 engine in a 1970 Lincoln Continental : ( the ignition timing is 10 * Before Top Dead Center ) Also : The spark plugs are gapped at .034 inch The point dwell is 26 to 31 degrees The point gap is .017 inch

8 to 10 degreds btdc
